CUT
In the beginning I CUT
born in Bologna in February 1996 and debuted live in June of that year. And 'the beginning of an incessant series of live and still continues and has led the band to perform up and down Italy, Continental Europe, Britain and the U.S. sharing the stage with (among others) :): Make-Up, Unwound, Royal Trux, Ulan Bator, Speedball Baby, Delta 72, Hives, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Capitol City Dusters, Old Time Relijun, Eels, Man or Astro-man?, Heavy Trash, Violent Femmes.
Trouble / DesireIl band recorded their first demo tape Trouble / Desire. E 'in March 1997. In November of that year, leaving Metal Machine Muzak, the first product range Bologna Pop label and first release "official" CUT. The compilation, along with "Psycho" of the CUT, the participation of bands such as Massimo Volume, Headcleaner, Ulan Bator, Three Second Kiss, and much of the most interesting names in the Italian underground.
Operation Manitoba
One year after the sessions of Trouble / Desire burst in the CUT Sub Cave Studios in Bologna to come up with the master of Operation Manitoba debut "official" group. Mixed by Fabio Magistrali the album is released in the autumn of '98 and is followed by a long tour that took the band on stage from the Beach Bum Festival 2000. Operation Manitoba, recorded live in the studio, is a faithful picture the sound of the CUT, until then entrusted mainly live concerts. The disc is received in an extremely positive from the "press" with reviews, articles and interviews on Noise, Wild Bunch, Rockerilla, Rocksound, low fidelity, Jammai as well as on countless fanzines. Luca Noise Frazzi defines Operation Manitoba: ".. Italian album of the year." (Noise, n.82, Nov.98).
Will U Die 4 Me? I CUT back to the studio with the American engineer Juan Luis Carrera, co-owner of Slowdime Records, to record the result of "Operation Manitoba. The album, released in February 2001 for Gamma Pop always, carries the title of Will U Die 4 Me? and the testimony of two years of effort and passion in the life of the band, which led to some lineup changes and an apparent musical growth. The intense promotional tour following the release of Will U Die 4 Me? (50 concerts in the first half of 2001) brings the CUT to play several times over the national borders and to open the program of the 2001 edition of the Independent Days festival.
Torture
In December 2001 the band recorded four songs written before the release of second album and now an integral part of their live show. The songs, three originals of the group and a cover of the classic Prince "Sign o 'the Times" will be collected on an EP released in March 2002. The disc, entitled Torture, CD ROM also contains a section that collects the two videos the band shot for the songs "Sugar Babe" and "Will U Die 4 Me?".
Bare BonesIl October 3, 2003 is the release date of Bare Bones, the band's new album: Juan Carrera is once again behind the mixer for a record that shows new perspectives for the sound of the CUT, including garage, new wave and deragliante dirty rock and roll noise. The disc follows the European release of a remix in electro funk of two key pieces present on Bare Bones ("Animal Lady" and "My Baby Just Wants to Be Alive") at the hands of Mayor Angelo DJ. The single will appear under the moniker Cut Off Under the same name was released a cover, very personal, "Showroom Dummies" by Kraftwerk, created specifically for a compilation linked to a London exhibition on fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. The fourth album by Cut out 6 March 2006 and is called A DIFFERENT BEAT. The thirteen songs on the disc were recorded and mixed hexagon Recording Studio in Rubiera, with the invaluable help of Bruno Mozart Germano (Settlefish) and Andrea Rovacchi (Slugs). "A Different Beat" is printed, promoted and distributed in Italy and Europe through Homesleep Music, marking the beginning of the collaboration between the CUT and the glorious label based in Bologna. In March 2007 the album was released in England getting rave reviews from the press. In 2008, CUT
I have taken two European tours, one in France and England (along with Settlefish) and one in the Baltic countries and Eastern Europe (Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic and Poland). The CUT with Settlefish, the Verdena and Disc Drive are among the stars of a special (+ interview) on the Italian rock out on the pages of the influential Sunday Times Online.
Do not Turn Away / Oh Dear
in June 2010 and released a 7 "split with Settlefish. Both tracks are outtakes of the last works of the band. The single was released by the Bolzano Riff Records.
Annihilation Road
In November 2009 the band recorded a new album, "Annhilation Road. The recording sessions were held in New York at NY Hed studio owned by Matt Verta-Ray, the minds of "Speedball Baby" and guitarist Jon Spencer's new project, "Heavy Trash". During the sessions the band has performed in a showcase at Piano's, a club on the Lower East Side, Manhattan.
The album, containing 14 tracks, has been mastered by Ivan Julian, guitarist of the historical group proto-punk Richard Hell and The Voidoids. The release of the new album has been entrusted to the CUT GO DOWN Records label Veneto / Adriatic for years devoted to the cult of rock in all its forms and the most authentic Wild. Very soon, even the vinyl version of Annihilation ROAD.
The band is currently on tour in Italy and Europe.
SAINT LIPS
The mixture of musical blend particles Saint Lips Pixies, Blondie, PJ Harvey, Breeders, Smashing Pumpkins with remnants classic '70s rock, a fascinating melting pot, written and arranged in a superb and original. Born in Rome in 2006, the band debuted in Italy on Bagana Records / Edel with "Petals Like" album that did stock up on rave reviews, finding the distribution in the U.S. with a production Renaissance Records / Koch, who has earned the participation of Miro Sassolini, former lead singer of the diaphragm, the official presentation. Saint Lips are now rallying around the beautiful voice and guitar Valentina Barletta Marco Simoncelli - lead author of the album - and give the prints a disc that not only shows off international guests with four quarters of nobility Art - Bobby MacIntyre and producer of the album responsible for parts of Hammond and drums (former drummer and producer of the Twilight Singers / Mark Lanegan), Scott Bennett (multi-instrumentalist Brian Wilson, singer of the Beach Boys), Whitey Kirst (guitar and co-author of Iggy Pop), Mike Garson (pianist for David Bowie) - but fires in the drills twelve tracks that slope so effective a fabulous blend melodic and varied: "Little Sister" from the pop deadly potential, "Summer Rain" classic rock song with the participation of Afterhours in the choir, "Savior" piece picks with assault-style "The Passenger" by Iggy Pop and the beautiful, dreamy ballad " 39 stars. "
The album was taped in live in Milan at the Mechanical Workshops Mauro Pagani and completed at Studio71 in Miami. Mastering was carried out at the Capitol Studios in California.
A roadmap impressive certifies Saint Lips as one of the band to watch out among those of the Italian classic rock, especially when you consider that in recent times the group has played at the Jamm in Brixton for the "Greasy Lips Night ", an evening organized by Alan McGee, and even BP Fallon - tour manager of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, T Rex, and DJ for U2 on the tour of" Zooropa "- has recognized the band of the week in his radio broadcast. More recently
Saint Lips were guests at "Stereonotte" on Radio 1 Rai collecting rave reviews from the audience.
